Char Kuey @ Kuching

Another food to recommend if you ever go to Kuching is the Char Kuey at a hawker center. It is located near town, behind the streets which has biscuit shops and cafes. You can see a cat statue before entering the road from town. I'll get the location uploaded ASAP.

There're few stalls here, majority of them sells local food, Tomato Mee, Char Kuey, Kong Piah, Sotong Kangkung, Belacan Mee and of course their own dessert. One stall which made me go there everytime i go to Kuching is this Char Kuey stall, Lim Kee. The Char Kuey is more of the salty kind than sweet. It's also cheap.. what i can say is it's really value for money. However, please be patient as the stall tender are of two elderly, they only hire 1 young lad to serve the food and collect the plates. Afterall, good food are worth the wait. :)

There's also dessert stall at this hawker center. The two bowls of dessert shown on the pics are Mentahon and White Lady. Both are special and can only be found at Kuching - unless if you know where else I can find them. I would highly recommend them to those who enjoys snacking during tea break!

Sarawak Open Air Siow Bee

Yea~! Somewhere out of Johor Bahru.. It's Kuching, Cat City. Went there on 16-20 September for Q Mo's brother's wedding. Of course, the glutton me will take this opportunity to try out those yummys they have there. This blog post is specially dedicated to Open Air Siow Bi. Siow Bi is known as Siew Mai here at Dim Sum shop. it's simply a round thingy made of meat and wrapped with skin used to wrap dumpling. Not so sure though, but that's what it looks like. I've also took pic of Sarawak Kolok Mee which also can be found at that market. No harm trying that out if you're already there coz it's quite delicious too~!

Close up shot of Siow Bee

It's relatively cheap if compared to what we have here in JB. Only RM 0.60 per piece and way much bigger than our Siew Mai here. Must TRY!

Location wise, I'm not too sure where it is located but it's near town. A google map is attached for your reference. But if you're looking for something extra hygiene there, then don't bother making the trip. This shop owner smokes while selling the Siow Bee.. Q Mo says, perhaps that's what makes the Siow Bee delicious >.<

Don Sushi @ Perling Mall

Another Japanese Food Buffet at JB... I'm pretty sure most ppl will think of Shogun or Sosoku when heard of Japanese Buffet but this time around, I plan to introduce something different - Don Sushi dinner buffet.

There's 2 branches of Don Sushi which i know of, at Taman Sentosa and Taman Perling. Q Mo n me went to the Taman Perling branch ytd - Perling Mall 2nd floor, 19th August. 1st impression was not bad as there were quite a number of ppl but we still get a place next to the sushi belt. Don't expect sushi to be placed on the belt, there's only like 4-5 kinds of sushi displayed, you will have to order the rests from the menu. Waiter served, as in took our orders. we've ordered some appetizer, Garden Salad, Chawan Mushi, Edamame, Hiyayako. The next round, we got ourselves fishes - unagi, salmon, shishamo, saba and ebi yaki. 3rd round was meat, niku (beef), yaki tori (chicken), and stupidly me - ordered fried rice - I only wanted some rice! but too full after that bowl of yakimeshi.. Nevertheless... we ordered sashimi + some fishes we had earlier during our last round of order. Not forgetting miso soup..

One thing which troubles me is that we have to go through the menu whilst ordering and we have to tell the waiter what we wanted - in which we cant keep track of what we ordered and what has been served. And i feel embarassed having to ask them to take our orders...

On overall... the food was good - at least better than what i had in shogun or sosoku.. price wise.. cheap compared to other buffet restaurant. They charge 29.90++ per head. We paid RM68.80 for all those we had - really worth it. But if you plan to go there to see some pretty + kawaii waitresses, too bad. Majority of the waiters are from overseas - yea.. i said waiter... So rating it:

To conclude, I would love to go there next time but wont wanna sit at the place we sat, too far to get drinks + dessert n there are quite a lot of big nasty flies there... Get yourself a seat near the drinks if you were to go there.

Cafe Iceteru @ Taman Universiti

Gonna introduce this new cafe at Taman Universiti, Skudai. Opposite Number 1 food center. From outside, looks classy + comfy. Q mo and me decided to have some ice there after dinner so we walked in. Unfortunately, there are no "ices" on the menu (why did they name it iceteru then?). Nvm.. we decided to try on something else since we're already in it. Quite a variety of food on the menu, both western + local. We ordered its dinner set, consists of Fish Chop + Mushroom/Chicken Soup + Ice Lemon Tea, we also ordered Banana boat (but it's named as Banana ship on its menu).

We were 1st served Ice Lemon Tea....

Not bad for drinks.

Then served Mushroom Soup... there were a dead fly in the soup, which we requested to have it changed. And lastly the Fish Chop.

Fish Chop was saltish, Soup was saltish, Wedges were not bad, sauce was weird...

Then comes our Banana ship...
Sad coz it's not the original Vanila + Choc + Strawberry and banana too small >.<

All of those costs us RM19.90.. No Service + Gov tax..
Well.. even though it didn't turn out well, but at least it's another experience gained.

Brief Introduction of this blog

Hi all..

This blog aims for food-lovers like me :) I live to eat, so I desire the best of what i eat. Lived in JB (1-18 years old) then moved to Melaka (18-23 years old) and back to JB now.. Foods featured here are mostly located at JB, which means they are easily accessible for Johoreans + Singaporeans.

These foods will be ranked (by me) based on N.A.T.I.O.N, which descriptions can be found at the upper right corner. 5 stars is the max and 0 for the worst..

Feel free to drop comments if YOU happen to visit any of these places or has any food to share.

EnjoY~!
